Alright, time to get to know the real me...

 About Me

Ok, you can see I'm a great web developer,
but I'm also a pretty cool human being too. Read on...

Well, as you've probably worked out by now, my name is Wade Hayward and I'm a 30 year old Web Developer based in Sydney, Australia. I have been a professional web developer since early 2008.

In 2008 I undertook a Certificate IV in Web Development at Kingscliff TAFE on the NSW North Coast (as I was previously residing on Queensland's Gold Coast). Throughout this course I received distinctions for all assignments submitted. Furthermore to this study, I also did a great deal of additional learning away from the course in my own time which helped me build my skill set (many online tutorials and text books later).

At the end of 2008, I relocated to Sydney's Northern Beaches to focus on and actively pursue my career in web development. While I was seeking employment, I worked on and created websites for friends and family to help build my experience and confidence. During this time I was able to build a small portfolio of websites and design examples to help get my foot in the 'web door'.

In June 2009, I finally got my break! I was employed by SavvyNet Systems in Brookvale, NSW as a junior web developer and have never looked back. During my time at SavvyNet, I worked with experienced web developers, software developers and I.T. support technicians and my knowledge, skill set and confidence blossomed. While working with SavvyNet, I worked on roughly 40 different client websites in various roles.

In April 2011, I took a position with The Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) in North Sydney, NSW as their primary front end web developer. In this role I managed the primary Ai Group website as well as a variety of affiliate websites associated with Ai Group (roughly 10-20 affiliate websites). I also managed all EDM and email material that Ai Group distributed which consisted of marketing material, email newsletters and all member communications. These were just a few of the duties associated with the role. There were a million and a half other duties associated with the position!

This role also gave me the opportunity to make a start in photography, video capture and production. With Ai Group, I had the opportunity to capture, edit and publish photos and video for the Ai Group website that were provided to Ai Group members on a variety of different subjects. Some photo and video projects that I had the opportunity to undertake include opening of Ai Group events, general filming of Ai Group events for promotional purposes, member updates and member information provided by Ai Group representatives. All my photo editing work has been done in Adobe Lightroom 4.1. All my video work has been done in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5. Most of my weekends are spent either out with my Nikon D7000 at my side, or my GoPro on my head (or sometimes both!) capturing all ranges of photos and video. I bring that footage home and play with it in Premiere Pro for hours on end!

My professional skills include, but are not limited to high end HTML and CSS coding, JavaScript and jQuery coding, experience with ASP.NET and classic ASP, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), project management, liaising with clients, following up leads, photography, video capture, photo and video editing, and everything in between!

My goals going into my next role are to build on my current skill set, to make new discoveries in the world of technology and to meet new and like-minded people. I am very eager and excited for the future!

But apart from dedicating a lot of my time to web development, I also find time for lots of other recreational activities. In my spare time I love to spend time with my lovely fiancé, take lots and lots of photos, capture and edit video, play video games, go to the beach (when it's the right time of year) and I am also a very keen snowboarder and skateboarder (yes, I am an actual human being who likes to have fun).

So that is me in a nutshell! If you have any other questions to do with my web development or just have a question for me in general, feel free to get in touch with me using any of the contact methods below. I look forward to hearing from you!
